Your Beginner’s Guide to Glamping at The Beeches

Do you like the idea of camping with your family or friends in the great outdoors, but don’t want to deal with the lack of facilities or home comforts? Glamping could be the ideal solution for you!

So, what even is Glamping?

Glamping is a high-end, more luxurious version of camping. Immerse yourself in nature and breathe in that fresh country air, with all the luxuries and comforts found in a holiday cottage or hotel. The accommodation is all set up and ready to go, so there’s no need to fiddle around with tent poles or mallets on your arrival – simply unpack and relax! Glamping appeals to people from all walks of life, including couples, families, groups of friends, adventurers, cyclists, hikers and even honeymooners.

The History of Glamping

Back in the 16th Century, the Scottish Duke of Atholl created the first recorded glamping experience in the Scottish Highlands for King James V and his mother. By the 1920s, African safari tents began to gain in popularity amongst the rich communities. The term “glamping” first appeared in the UK public domain in 2005, becoming increasingly popular in the UK and Ireland by 2007. Now, the trend can be seen across the world, with many types of accommodations and experiences available.

Types of Glamping Accommodation

The most popular types of glamping accommodation include:

Our Luxury Glamping Pods

Our 4 luxury glamping pods contain all the essentials you could possibly need for a UK staycation, as well as offering ultimate comfort and style. Willow and Cedar both sleep up to 4 people with a double bed and a double sofa bed; whilst Maple and Hazel sleep up to 5 people with a double bed, 2 bunk beds and a single sofa bed. Each pod has a fully fitted kitchen and en-suite shower room with a shower, toilet, basin and heated towel rail.

Outside each pod, you will find a private seating area with a picnic table, a fire pit with BBQ grill and a designated parking space. Dogs are welcome in Willow, Maple and Hazel pods; whilst Maple, Cedar and Hazel all have private wood fired hot tubs.

Our Fantastic Facilities

Here on site, you will find some fantastic facilities to cater for all ages and preferences. First up is our beautiful BBQ hut, which is available to hire for groups of up to 10 people. Enjoy sitting ‘in the round’ and grill up a storm with your own private party.

For the children, we have a large playing field in front of the pods, offering plenty of space for kids to roam free. A selection of fun garden games is available for our guests to use during their stay. If you have small children who require baths or just need a bit more space when washing, we have a family bathroom on site with a bath, shower, toilet, and basin.

You will find a small honesty shop on site, stocking all the essentials including coal, logs, tea bags, marshmallows, ice cream, cold drinks and more. No need to panic if you forget your toothpaste! Finally, the fully equipped laundry room features a washing machine and tumble dryer, allowing you to freshen up if you end up being caked in mud (we’ve all been there!).

What’s Provided?

The kitchens are well-equipped with a fridge/freezer, sink, 2 ring induction hob, microwave, toaster, and kettle; as well as all the saucepans, utensils, crockery, and cutlery you could ever need. You can choose to cook up a feast indoors or indulge in some alfresco dining using the fire pit with BBQ grill. As well as containing the essentials, we provide a welcome pack including tea, coffee, sugar hot chocolate, biscuits and milk.

Smart TVs and Wi-Fi are available in all pods. We will provide all bedding, hand towels, bath towels and tea towels for your use. Wellness Breaks Cornwall

Discover the Hidden Health Benefits of Campfires and BBQs

Picture your loved ones gathered around a campfire on a warm summer evening; hearing the logs crackle away, watching the entrancing flames dance, and preparing to cook some delicious food on the BBQ. Sounds perfect, right?

Did you know that there are numerous health benefits to spending an evening gathered around a fire? Research has shown that watching a fire can induce a trance-like relaxation which boosts both your physical and mental health. The most significant physical health benefit is reduced blood pressure, which in turn reduces the risk of stroke, kidney disease, heart disease, and eye damage. The state of relaxation experienced from watching a fire can help you switch off and sleep better, in both the short and long term.

Humans are social creatures, and spending time with other people is key to our happiness and health. Sitting around a fire having a great conversation with those close to your heart is a perfect way to socialise. You’re also more likely to create positive conversation and find common interests with those around you due to your fresh state of relaxation.

Of course, one of the best parts about campfires is BBQs and alfresco dining! You might not know that there are also lots of health benefits to cooking food on a BBQ rather than indoors on a hob or oven. For example, when you grill meat on a BBQ, the excess fat drips away through the grates, reducing the amount of fat you consume. Cooking vegetables is also healthier because they require less oil to cook in, and the method of cooking also helps to lock in those lovely vitamins and minerals, too!

Experience the Healing Health Benefits of Wood-Fired Hot Tubs

Taking a dip in a wood-fired hot tub is one of the most luxurious activities you can enjoy on a wonderful wellness retreat, allowing you to soak under the stars with a glass of something sparkling and truly unwind. There are so many proven health benefits to using a wood-fired hot tub, including improving your blood circulation, soothing your muscles, and easing joint inflammation. The water supports your body and takes the weight off your joints, which can help to improve your flexibility and range of motion.

Similarly to the benefits associated with watching a fire, soaking in a wood-fired hot tub is an equally relaxing activity, therefore reducing blood pressure and helping you to drift off into a deep, peaceful sleep at night. A dip in a wood-fired hot tub actively burns calories and aids metabolism, which could be particularly beneficial for those who find it hard to exercise.

Finally, spending time in a wood-fired hot tub is a wonderful way to connect with nature. You can truly immerse yourself in the fresh air and gorgeous scenery, both of which heighten your sense of calmness and peace. And if you’re lucky, you may even get the opportunity to spot some wonderful wildlife, too!

Uncover the Beautiful Benefits of Mother Nature

Immersing yourself in the sights and sounds of mother nature is a truly unparalleled experience. Enjoy listening to birds tweeting and woodpeckers pecking, watching squirrels scaling trees and beautiful butterflies flitting through the air, and breathe in the glorious fresh air of the great British countryside.

There are several health benefits to being at one with mother nature, especially for your mental health. Being outdoors helps to improve your mood, reduce feelings of stress, and is an ideal way to take time out of an otherwise busy schedule. It can also help reduce loneliness if you’re connecting with other people in the community around you.

Getting outdoors is key to improving your physical health, especially if you’re being particularly active and going on long walks. Soaking up Vitamin D from the sun is vital for maintaining strong bones – in the winter months, the UK gets less sunlight and the weather is usually poorer, meaning we don’t get as much Vitamin D as we should.
